Antioxidant Multi-Berry Smoothie
Blitzing fruit has been a nightly event for me for the past three years. I care about the sugar content of the fruits that come in to my blender, so I choose berries for their high antioxidant and low-sugar content. Blueberry, cranberries, strawberries and raspberries have been refuted for antioxidants called anthocyanins that have powerful health benefits. Known for warding off radical that cause premature aging and cancer, it also fights inflammation which is the cause of most diseases from heart attacks to diabetes. They are simple enough to make, my hand-held blender is easy enough to clean up, it’s wellness that I can afford to make for myself minus the ceremonial process. And in our current scenario with all the threat from toxins, bad effects of junk food, and chronic illness plaguing us, I love taking in food that’s good for me.
Here’s how I make my antioxidant fix:
½ punnet of blueberries
7-9 pieces of raspberries
4 slices of strawberries
8 pieces of frozen cranberries
½ cup orange juice
1 teaspoon ground flax seeds for additional cardio benefits
Optional :
When I’m on a splurge, I throw in around 4 pieces of pitted fresh cherries and some grapes
Blend everything together until you get a smooth consistency.
It’s that easy, but it’s very healthy. Sticking to this habit has also taught me to be disciplined. I’ve noticed that I’ve also been sticking more to my workout schedule and being focused more on work. I hardly find any wasted time in my day. Developing good habits do make us effective in many areas of our lives.
With that I wish you all a blessed life.
